Catherine Fink and Louise Tapper run Thrive OT
Our passion and job is helping people to THRIVE by staying engaged in meaningful activities in their homes, work and communities. We focus on enabling self management, independence in everyday activities and staying safe and happy in the home and community. We value building lasting relationships with our clients and being available at any point in their journey.
We are:
Qualified and NZ Registered Occupational Therapists
Experienced – we have both worked 25+ years in both public and private services.
Based in Ōtautahi, Christchurch
In addition to traditional Occupational Therapy approaches, we draw on a range of evidence-informed approaches, including Motivational Interviewing, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), strengths-focused practice, wellbeing approaches, and positive psychology.
Our work is collaborative, practical and tailored to the individual, with a focus on understanding what matters to you and supporting meaningful change in everyday life.
Our practice is trauma-informed and neuro-affirming, with a strong commitment to culturally responsive practice and a bicultural approach grounded in Aotearoa New Zealand.
We established our occupational therapy service in 2011 in response to the Canterbury Earthquakes. At that time there was demand for supporting older people in the community who had become increasingly anxious, socially withdrawn and disengaged from their usual health promoting daily activities. Our holistic, practical and strengths based approach to working with these people was and continues to be very effective.
We have continued to develop and evolve our service over the next 15 years. We have built strong working relationships with a range of General Practices, other allied health professionals and with community groups.
In 2018 we changed our business name from Port Hill Therapists to ThriveOT. Thrive is a better reflection of how we work and what we aim to achieve for our clients.
