Occupational Therapy / Whakaora Ngangahau

Who We Work With

As registered Occupational Therapists, we work with adults experiencing challenges with daily functioning, routines, and participation in everyday life. We aim to provide a service that is inclusive and respectful of each person’s background, values, and support networks, including whānau.

This may include:
• mental health-related impacts on functioning including those with sensitive claims
• executive functioning difficulties (e.g. initiation, organisation, follow-through)
• fatigue, burnout, or reduced capacity
• neurodivergent individuals (including ADHD traits)
• difficulties managing work, study, or home responsibilities
• adjustment to life changes or transitions

How We Support People

We work alongside people to support their day-to-day functioning, wellbeing, and sense of capability in everyday life.

We can help with:
• Understanding how mental health is impacting daily life and routines
• Supporting people who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or unable to get started
• Developing realistic, sustainable routines that work in daily life
• Improving sleep patterns and daily rhythm
• Supporting energy management and reducing burnout
• Helping with task initiation, organisation, and follow-through
• Building confidence in managing work, study, or home responsibilities
• Supporting neurodivergent individuals with practical strategies
• Identifying and supporting sensory needs and environmental factors
• Re-engaging in meaningful activities that bring purpose and enjoyment
• Breaking down tasks into manageable, achievable steps
• Supporting life transitions (e.g. returning to work, changes in health or roles)
• Helping people develop self-awareness and practical coping strategies

“As a health profession, occupational therapy focusses on the goal of helping people experience healthy and satisfying lives by maximising their ability to successfully accomplish everyday activities – activities that we term occupations.”
